Light artist Chanette Manso to celebrates first solo show in New York : Velvet Warriors.
“Velvet Warriors is a series I’ve been working on for several years. The show will feature colorful large mounted prints and smaller loose ones, to choose from. ”
“Archetypes being one of my principle subjects, I have chosen to highlight several iconic heroines from cult movies, animations and comics, including Princesse Mononoke, Neyteri from Avatar and Rocket Girl. It has been important to me to choose non-Marvel characters and female ones, as to counter the overflow of male heros in main stream society.”
These warrior figures are printed on velvet-like Art Photo Paper called Ultrasmooth, thus the title: Velvet Warriors.
At one point in the evening, I plan to give two live light painting performance called, “Chan Shui, escape into the picture.” and “Out of the box”.
